Charter schools are public schools of choice. Charter schools are operated according to the
provisions of a charter document. The charter document is a contract that gives the charter petitioner
the authority and the public funding to operate the charter school and states how the charter school will
be run. In order to continue to operate the charter school the charter petitioner is required to meet the
performance objectives stated in the charter document.
Charter schools help put the public back in public education by encouraging participation by parents
and the local community.
Charter schools give principals the authority to manage effectively.
Charter schools allow teachers the flexibility to utilize innovative methods to reach all children.
Charter schools are public schools and can not charge tuition.
Charter schools are like free private schools.
Tuition Free
Charter schools are established by law and are a part of the Public School System. As a part of the
Public School System, charter schools are funded by public revenues and tax dollars. We do NOT
charge tuition for attendance. Your child can attend a charter school just the same as other public
schools for no charge. You have already paid for this school with your tax dollars and that is why we
are providing a choice of how and where your dollars are spent. In this case the tax dollars follow the
child in the same way that other Public Schools are funded.
Cutting Edge Programs
Imagine Georgia will be bound by the charter (the document or contract between the district and the
school) to provide a certain curriculum. We do however have the flexibility to provide the best
curriculum for the children we serve as determined by the parents and the school. Charter schools
have the ability to change quickly and use innovative approaches to teaching and learning that large
public districts lack. Charter schools also have the ability to decide what standards to measure
ourselves to.
At Imagine Schools, we not only align to the state standards, we also align to national and in some
cases international standards.
Parents have stated repeatedly that they feel that their child receives "special' attention and the
teachers go "above and beyond the call of duty" to communicate with the parents. It is our goal to never
have one of our parents say "I had no idea that my child...".
